There is an alternative to MS Windows and it is Linux.

Linux is a great open source operating system that anyone can download and use. You can download Kubuntu 9.10 stable from Kubuntu and which is a KDE window version of Ubuntu.

This release has an emphasis on connecting you to your on-line social networks.  Not only will Kubuntu connect on-line to your social network sites but it also comes with a great deal of open source software to enable you to work with media files, photography, music and video as well as a number of open source office suites for your office needs.

I have used Kubuntu for a number of years and highly recommend this distro.

Linux has a large number of choices for your personal tastes, Ubuntu is one of the Gnobe Windows versions.

PCLinuxOS is another great Linux distro that is great for users migrating from Windows to Linux. You can download PCLinuxOS from here.
